    Smile BBQ after Waconia Event

We are planning to organize a BBQ in the parking lot following the weigh-in at the Waconia event on August 4th. Our plans are to purchase some brats and hamburgers and buns with part of the league funds and then have everyone else bring whatever they want to drink plus something to share (chips, salads, dessert, condiments, paper plates, etc.). Assuming it takes us until 12:30 to complete the weigh-in, we should be able to cook the meat and serve lunch by 1:00 to 1:15.

The first thing I want to know is who can and who can't stay long enough to at least eat lunch after the event? Assuming we have enough meat and bread, what would people like to volunteer to bring? We don't need tons more food than a couple sandwiches apiece, but a few bags of chips, a couple of salads, a few cookies would round things out nicely. We need condiments for the burgers and brats, plates, plastic utensils, napkins, etc. We'll also need a card table or two on which to set out the food. If your partner doesn't visit the website or have email, please check with them for me.

Sorry guys I won't be able to do this one. My daughter turns 1 and we are having a party for her that day. Steve if you want I can bring you some chips. I can get them free. My better half as well as my bro works at Old Dutch. Just let me know. I can bring some of the smaller bags and if there are left overs you can take them or do what ever with them

    Hi guys,

This is my first post. I fished Clearwater with Jeff W. and will also be fishing Tonka and Waconia. Clearwater was a blast and the next 2 should be too. Jeff & I will be prefishing Tonka tomorrow.

I can stay for the picnic and will bring the plates, utensils, and napkins.
Depending on the weather (wind & waves) we might want to eat down by the park on the SE shore. One of the two sites should be calm enough to pull boats up on the sand while we eat. Both sites have nice sand beaches. At noon it might be tough to load boats and find parking spots at the access.

    Mike,

I've lived in Waverly for 1.5 years but haven't fished the area much. Before that I lived in St. Boni and fished Tonka and Waconia. I used to fish all the big tournaments on Tonka and a few around the state but got burned out and took a few years off. I didn't think I'd get into it again until Jeff asked me to sub for him. I had a blast and am looking forward to it again. If you ever want to go out and try Howard or Waverly let me know.

I'm with Pigslayer on using the park instead of the access. No need to tie it up for non-league members. We Might want to consider doing the weigh-in there too, just to simplify things.

I guess I didn't read very well. Wallipro is bringing the plates so I'll bring ketchup, mustard, and relish instead.

    welcome pigslayer!

can you drive vehicles around to the parks and park rigs? otherwise we'll still be holding spots at the landing with our vehicles/trailers. we did it at the landing last time without a problem, but that was at 4 p.m. we were able to take a few spots and pull some boats out of the way and do a tailgate type of deal.. I haven't fished thta lake much recently, does the landing get pretty busy? it is a huge landing..

The landing gets packed by 10am. I'm not sure about parking as they changed the park. There used to be a big lot by the beach and I would think it's still there. I can check on it this weekend.

If the wind isn't too strong we can all pull up on the sand to weigh and eat at either the access or the park, both have nice, long, sand beaches with more than enough room. It only gets tricky if we have to trailer.

Welcome to the site Pigslayer !

My neighbor was just out on Waconica checking things out yesterday & he said that yes the landing was jammed & said he was lucky enough to have a guy leaving just as he got there or he would have not had a place to park.

yea come to think of it I think a few boats stayed in the water right at the landing, nice sand shoreline... and a few pulled up and back into their spots..

I am planning on making it to the BBQ and I will bring some home-made desserts. None of that store bought crap.
