    Fishing with Iowa

It was that time of year where I sucker IACrankbait into delivering me some TQmeats skinless brats, by disguising it as a fishing trip. When I placed my brat order, water temps were great, the river flow was dropping and fishing was about to peak out.
By the time he showed up with the goods, water levels were great, but the water temps dropped almost 10 degrees and the fish turned a little negative on us.
Unfortunately for the fish, we were prepared. Plastics on Texas rigs, pitched into heavy cover, seamed to be the key, with most fish liking lumber with rocky bottoms. Beavertails and tubes were what worked the best, with colors seaming to change as the sun broke through the clouds.

I was wondering why the frisbee kept getting bigger. Then all of a sudden it hit me

I'll take low, cooling water conditions over high water any day!! Pike made for plenty of action and a few good smallies to go along.
    Had a blast as always!!

Not everyone gets to be an astronaut when they grow up.
