Forest Lake Event 6/23
Congratulations to Scott Regnier and Shannon Jacobsen on a great bag of fish. 32.71 lbs including bonus points for 6 fish species.
The next event is on Sugar Lake on July 14th. We have room for more teams if anyone is interested in testing their fishing skills.

Congrats to Scott and Shannon. We had 3 fish in the box when went to go to a new spot and as soon as the boat got on plane we heard a knocking noise so we shut down the motor. we decided that since we would be very limited in where we would be able to fish we called it a day and headed for the access and took the boat over to the mechanic I use which was only 20 minutes away. Hopefully I will have it back in time to for Sugar in July.

How we caught 'em
Rob, I hope your boat problems are not too serious.
Shannon and I caught all of the bass we weighed between 7 and 8 am. All were caught on a white-and-yellow spinnerbaits in about 5 feet of water, running them above a milfoil bed. We caught numerous other bass under docks, but they were all smaller. The pike were caught on spinnerbaits and lipless cranks (red). They were found near weedbeds (4-6 ft) with millfoil and a little cabbage.
Like many others, we have never fished Sugar Lake and have no plans to do so prior to the event...I'm certain the results will show it! Still, we really look forward to trying to figure it out.

Congrats, nice haul of fish!
Hoping the boat will be done by then and I can get out at least once.

Here are a couple pics...
congrats to Scott and Shannon.. figured we needed one bigger pike which we didn't end up getting but had 1/2 a day to try for one.. was a great day on the water and perfect fishing weather, we ended up catching a ton of fish throughout the day and did quite a bit of culling... Our biggest bass came pitching my favorite bait - berkley crazy leg in the pads.. not sure on those we kept/culled but some others on this bait, jigs, buzzbait, spinnerbaits.. all shallow - mostly under 3 fow.. for pike we tried 1 - 15 fow.. all fish I believe we caught were under about 7 fow.. most were under 3 fow.. most on spinnerbaits casting up into about 2 fow on a windblown harder bottom pt.. also had a pretty decent muskie (over 15 lbs. for sure anyway) follow up which came out of 1-2 fow.. The perch was the toughest of the bunch to catch, Dad took awhile but was determined to get one after they were following up his baits.. he also caught one of our pike that I think we used to cull with when fishing perch with a beetle spin.. perch were a whopping 4" I'd say.. rock bass plentiful.. quite a few bluegills still on beds but they appeared to be moving off, about 1/2 the beds empty..

congrats to Scott and Shannon as well!!
Tim and I fished the reeds most of the day, we did pull one nice bass out of the pads on a swim senko. We threw jigs, spinners and chatterbaits. We fished 2 - 7 fow all day we were culling bass by 8AM but we could not find any pike to keep, I think we had 6 too short. The Eye came on a chatterbait in 7 fow
Like Scott said ,I've never fished Sugar and most likely won't b-4 the event.

Bowfishermen, check out this link about a carp tournament on Prior, Spring, and Fish Lakes in Scott County on Sunday June 2nd. I like the part about them disposing of the fish for us. That's the...
