Over the limit on Pelican.

Too bad they couldn't take his house too! Great work by the warden.
The guy previously known as "Pigslayer".

Yuck. Why?
All normal people love meat. If I went to a barbeque and there was no meat, I would say 'Yo Goober! Where's the meat!?'. I'm trying to impress people here Lisa. You don't win friends with salad.

How could one possibly even plan on consuming that many fillets? That is insane, I hardly ever keep a limit! I am glad that guy was caught...good work DNR.

I find this article sickening. Thanks Brett for making this aware to us. I witnessed the Hmongs going over their limit on the Waverly lake pier this spring. They have regard for the law.

If that was the case, you should've called TIP. And when you say "They" you're generalizing a group of people when in your case, it was and individual/ or individuals. Here's a fact for you though. Go on the DNR offenders/revocation list and can you tell me what the majority of the names are??

Oh, and by the way, this guy here is Vietnamese.. Not hmong.. Just a FYI..My Home | My Photo Album

Everywhere you go, people of all ethnicity are keeping fish illegally. Pointing out the Hmong thing is a little messed up. Glad they caught him.

I spoke with the same officer who arrested this individual and they are very hesitant to investigate these cases for a number of reasons. My post may sound racial, though it is not intended to be. I just call it the way it is, like it or not. To me, this is a very serious crime.

Perry ,
There are ways of putting something on the site but no reason for the generalizing of a group on here. Once I saw your post I knew that was coming. I agree with the above. The person broke the law and was caught no need for comment. Good work by the CO.
To all sportsman this is a serious crime that does not change anything.Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way Lumbergh can't see me, heh heh - and, uh, after that I just sorta space out for about an hour.
Da-uh? Space out?
Yeah, I just stare at my desk; but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch, too. I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work

I know Perry and I seriously doubt that is what he is saying. He made an observation and discussed the matter with a CO, and reported from that. There is no high road here, no harm was meant with what was reported I am sure. This post needs to be deleted or guys will go around in circles, I cannot stand to read or see posts with accusations regarding matters such as this. A man was caught with illegal fish, lets move on.

Thank you very much, Pipes. I did personally speak with Officer Rick Reller pertaining to this subject several weeks ago. I know to what extent these cases are investigated. My point is this: Our lakes are not meant to be grocery stores for anyone. Fishing is a sport. I enjoy eating fish as much or more than my fellow anglers. I become irate when I see the same people catching limits several days in a row. Our natural resources must be protected. I have seen what I have seen. Let's pass something onto our children besides financial debt.

Perry i couldn't agree more. How I read it you were just explaining a situation you encountered and wanted to share it. Teng I don't think it was directed towards the hmongs directly. As I see it weather it be caucasions, hispanics, african americans vietamese, hmong, or etc, of all these races there are always someone from each breaking the law and taking more then there limits. Agree this post should be locked or deleted.

You're right, you may not have intended for your post to sound racial. By definition, the word Racial means: of, relating to, or based on a race. What it does sound like is racism, whether you tried to or not.
I don't know you, and am by no means calling you a racist - I am not judging your character by your choice of words on a fishing forum post. You must realize however that your language is off-putting and offensive.
You used the phrase, "The Hmongs," and the word "They," and are essentially generalizing a group of people as poachers. Then you go on to say "I just call it the way it is, like it or not," when in reality that is far from the truth.
Imagine if roles were reversed and I made a post that said this:
"I find this article sickening. Thanks Brett for making this aware to us. I witnessed the Americans going over their limit on the Waverly lake pier this spring. They have no regard for the law."Last edited by rwwong; 06-01-2012 at 07:56 PM.

I read this hole post this am. Teng thanks for the productive posts. I agree with alot of what is posted here. we all have seen things that are considered against the law. Two lines in the water is my favorite. I think the best thing you can do is call tip. get a pic with your smart phone ( because 9 times out of 10 we have one on us) and leave it to the authorities.
A father and son face poaching charges in Becker County District Court, with the younger man looking at more than $5,000 in potential restitution in a case involving illegally taking a giant muskie and a 500-pound black bear.
Walter David Draack, also known as "Yogi," 29, Ottertail, Minn., is accused of spearing a muskie, which is against the law in Minnesota, illegally transporting big game and having four deer over the legal limit -- all gross misdemeanor charges.
His father, Walter Robert Draack, 57, Frazee, Minn., is charged by citation with three misdemeanor counts of possessing an untagged gill net, possessing ducks taken illegally and possessing untagged waterfowl.
A third defendant, Trent Lee Buck, 34, Detroit Lakes, Minn., chose not to fight a misdemeanor charge of taking trout over the limit and paid a $522 fine, according to court records.
Crimes are commited by all walks of life but how we state how we feel about it should be the same as sportsman... its an ugly crime.

My understanding from a friend is that the registrations for the carp tournament have been light so far. This would be a great opportunity to finish in the money with payout planned for the top 4...
