    JR's Hot Tomale

Hog and I were using the Hot tamales which were working well on eyes a couple weeks ago. I like the look of the jigs and UV finish is pretty cool. Not sure it matters how you charge them but we used a JR's UV light to charge (looks like a small black LED flashlight, think he had them 2 for $10 at the JR's store). Those u.v. jigs really glow bright. I was using the smaller size (1/8 oz) in the Minnesota Vikings looking color (purple perch) and Hog was using the 1/4 oz size, not sure on color. I picked up some the other day, I like the look of the blood worm, perch, and pink squirrel colors along with the purple/yellow Vikings color.

Here is a link on the jigs. I can't find the charging lights online, but guessing you can use whatever you have to charge them. I'd really recommend at least stopping in the JR's store if you do a lot of ice fishing. You'll definitely save money vs. going to Gander or somewhere, you'll get a lot more for your money and in my opinion they have the best ice jigs out there right now.

I also picked up some pannie pills and jalepeno jigs, the jalepeno jigs have been my go-to for panfish. I haven't tried the pannie pills but have heard great things about them. They are similar to the jalepeno jigs but the Pannie pills have a little different profile (pill shaped with a flat bottom). They both are tungsten. The higher density of the tungsten allows you to get down fast with a smaller profile which is nice when you need that small profile for pannies. They both have the u.v. high glow finish. He has some glitter finish jigs that I hadn't seen before that look good too.

I'd recommend going to the store as they have a ton of great ice fishing stuff and you'll find some good deals. They have a lot of quantity discounts and many allow you to mix and match and the quantity isn't real high. 4 for $, 5 for $, etc. I think you'll find that you are able to fill up or restock your ice tackle box for a lot less money. They also have a much better selection of ice reels than I remember. I picked up a JR's ice reel (Z2 I believe?) that seems like a great deal for around $15. It feels really smooth and for that price it seems like a deal. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but like the look and feel of it for that price. They also have a few model Ticas and a bunch of other name brand ice reels.

The hot tamale has been a go to spoon for me for a few years now. I've caught numerous 2lb crappies and 1lb gills, big perch and even a 10lb walleye on it the 1/8 oz glow red. There's a reason why its called the hot tamale! I've seen on a few occasions where other spoons will be out fished 10-1. Jr's shop in Brooklyn Park is worth a stop. Very competive pricing on everything from rod and reels, terminal tackle, rod bags, bait and everything inbetween.

Ever since Hog introduced me to JR's products that is what I use the majority of the time. I have several ice combos as well, the light bite series are my favorite. Speaking of, does anybody know if they will be open Monday? I have been wanting to take my brother and law there and we both have the day off..

They're located in Brooklyn Park just north of fleet farm and I'm sure they'll be open tomorrow.

I was at the store last week with a buddy and we picked up some of the new glitter painted tungsten Jalepeno jigs. They looked amazing and my buddy has been hammering nice crappies on them. If you go make sure to check them out. Im in AZ now but as soon as I get back I'll try mine.

I posted a map on the bottom of the 1st post. The address is on the top of the main page of JRstackle.com if you punch into a gps. The location isn't super easy to find if you haven't been there. I'd punch in a gps or printout a mapquest map or something.
