Looking at buying new side by side ATV. Looking for some reviews.

I'm going to be selling my wifes polaris 400 and my polaris 6x6 and buying a side by side. I just started to look and price a few out. A buddy of mine bought a CF Moto from quad central and loves it. I'm a little nervous on buying an off brand, but it looks great and will save me 4,000. I just went and looked at the new John deere gator and it looks great. Any thoughts or opionins would be great. Also if you have a dealer you prefer please share. Thanks and stay dry on the ice!

I don't have any help for you on those. I was at Fleet Farm yesterday and noticed they have some off-brand nice looking side by side utility vehicle on sale for $2999 with a plow. That one is gas, they had the same in electric but that was 3999, don't think electric would be that great and you can buy a lot of gas for $1000. They look pretty sweet, only problem is it's a 2 wheel drive. Probably wouldn't work well for ice fishing being a 2 wheel drive, I know when I had my 4 wheeler the 4 wheel drive saved me a few times in deep slush and snow. Even got stuck a few times although a regular 4 wheeler is easy enough to get out if you get stuck. Not sure one of those would be as easy to get unstuck. Most of the time that would probably work though, the price sure is right. 2 wheel drive would probably work for most hunting and when the snow isn't too deep on the lakes. I need to get another one of these days and the utility vehicle with the hauling bed and plenty of room for 2 or more people would be the way I'd go. Seems like when I had my wheeler that we were always trying to cram people on it.

It kinda depends on what you plan to use it for....Is it for riding around or do you want a workhorse????

thanks for replies guys. As far as use I would say a little of both. Right now i use my 6x6 for plowing, hauling and hunting and ice fishing. The box in the back is really nice for hunting and fishing. We used to go trial riding the wife and I, but that has been less and less every year. So I guess it is more of a work horse thing than a trail riding thing. Currently I have 2 Polaris atv's and looking for honest opionions of what other people drive. I know the pros and cons about Polaris. I don't know about Honda, Yamaha, Can Am, ect..

    Any thoughts are great.

My brother bought a Cub Cadet side-by-side....It is definitely a work horse, not too bad of a ride either. You aren't going to go down the road over 35-40 but it pulls the brushhog, and disc really well. It has a dump box on back and a full roll cage so you could ad the cab if you want for ice fishing...

We have a Yamaha Rhino. We have beat the piss out of the thing. It looks pretty rough, but never misses a beat.

My only gripe on the Rhino is the load capacity of the box isnt very much. You can get that thing to squat pretty quick.

We use ours for work mainly. more pulling stuff than hauling loads in the box. the box is great just for general stuff though. we have tow straps, tools, chains and other items that never come out of it. Very handy.

Yamaha's are hard to beat....VERY tough machine. I have a 1993 Yamaha Big Bear that has been used and kind of abused, including having it tumble over backwards down a big hill. The only thing that has ever needed replacing other than a few batteries is a spring on the foot brake because I backed into a stump and busted it.....
