    1st ice eyes - 12/9

Went up to Hog's late last week near Grand Rapids to do some muzzy hunting and ice fishing. No luck with the smoke poles, but we caught some nice eyes Friday evening. We fished 3 different lakes and found 4-6" of ice in most places. Panfish weren't cooperating much so we found a small hump that came up to 23' on top surrounded by 40+ and caught these the last couple hours of light.

    Very cool Dan. Nice fish.

I'm still trying to keep bow hunting but getting harder and harder to stay away from the ponds fright now.
Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way Lumbergh can't see me, heh heh - and, uh, after that I just sorta space out for about an hour.

    Da-uh? Space out?

Yeah, I just stare at my desk; but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch, too. I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work

Walleye bite has still been decent on kegs. Been catching a variety of fish too.. pike, lakers, small mouth, rockos and some nice perch. I've been having my best luck in 28-30 fow surrounded by much deeper water. I've been getting better quality fish but not great numbers. Some guys are catching better numbers but with lots of small fish. Fishing new spots each time out is key. Makes a difference of catching 1-2 fish at best or 3 or 4 times that.
