Northern MN Honkers
Woke up on Saturday morning about 4:45am and snuck out of the cabin without waking up mama or the little man. I was to meet Luke and Nate at Nate’s Farm at 5:15am, come 5:15am we were a guy short and after waiting 30 minutes Luke and I decided to go set up in a pasture field with a nice pond on it. Nate informed us that the geese were not arriving until about 10am, but we wanted to make sure we were set up in case any early arrivals showed up. Well Nate showed up about 8am after a nice breakfast, and there we sat until about 10am without a shot being fired.
At about 10:15 we started to see the first arrivals to our spread. First a pair came in we dropped both, then I nice flock of 8 came in and we dropped 7. After picking 2 others out of another flock we had a group of about 100 come in feet locked and we were loaded and we dropped our 4 and had our 3 man limit. For the next 20 minutes we shut the blinds and watched flocks after flock work our spread.
Sunday morning came and we decided we could meet a little later then on Saturday. Again we were a guy short (I thought farmers were early risers). Luke and I started setting up about 6:15 and as we set up we had birds working us, so we rushed to get everything set up. Today brought strong NW winds and cooler temps so I was little worried about how the strong NW winds were going to affect us. Well after the first two flocks hit us we 8 birds on the ground. So far so good, but the winds continued to gust and the remaining flocks were not committing like the earlier flocks. Nate showed up again at about 8:15 and we scratched out another 4 birds. Overall it was a great weekend.

Nice shooting guys. My weekend wasn't anything like that. 3 geese in two mornings out.

Nice work!!! We were able to scratch out 7 birds for the weekend. I would have rather had a field to hunt...
