Tonka Results
Congrats to Steve and Dan on their second win of the summer. Another good finish by Scott with a second place win. Good job also goes to John and Andy with a third place win.
Below are the results. I didn't get the fish count for Brian and Troy or some of the team'ss bonus species listedLast edited by rjruda; 08-15-2011 at 07:20 PM.

It was a fun day on the water. Thanks to Brent for fishing with me, you definite had some good water for us to fish. Here is pic of the 36" muskie I caught. Was a fun fish even though I counted count it for anything.

Rocko's were taken on 1/2 oz spinnerbaits.

Swank finished 3rd? We were up on the board finishing 4th? Did we only pay out two spots?

Mike, I will double check the spreadsheet with a photo I think Dan took. I will repost the standings after the photo has been checked. If I made a mistake I will get it corrected, sorry.

Winning Formula
During prefishing, we didn't find any northern in the shallows but did catch several walleyes (3 in two trips) fishing with leeches at the deep weedline (17-18 ft most places). We also caught several northerns in the same locations and a few bass so that was our starting strategy for Saturday. We fished leeches and minnows at the deep weedline for quite a while trying for northern and/or walleyes. We caught only one northern (28") and one undersize walleye. It took us until 1 PM to catch the other 2 northern, but we eventually caught a 22.5 and a 21" fish trolling heavy spinnerbaits over submersed weeds in 14-16 ft depths. We never did fish for bass the whole day but they bit more frequently than anything else everywhere we went. We caught over a dozen largemouth while fishing for northern and culled everything below 16". Dan also hooked and landed a 32" carp on a leech that had enough power to go pretty much wherever he wanted. We had to chase him down with the trolling motor to keep him from running Dan out of line. Several legal size sunnies also came in on a leech, but no rock bass which we had hoped to find somewhere.

I assume the spreadsheet was pulled off? Or am I missing a link somewhere?

I noticed the bonus pts. for bass and pike were not added in, so everyone would have 2 more pts. than what is recorded. It will not affect anything as everyone had at least 1 bass and 1 pike to get their bonus pts. for those. Thanks once again to Abu Garcia for providing 2 Revo SX's as door prizes as well as 2 Revo SX's and 2 Vendetta rod's to overall winners, 2 Revo SX's for 2nd place overall, and 2 Vendetta rod's for 3rd overall. They were very generous this year and provided some great prizes, many people were able to win a large door prize this year.

Wow! I hadn't really gotten a chance to study the scoreboard until now but it's surprising to me that 7 out of 9 teams had a limit of 3 northern and 5 out of nine had limits of both bass and northern. It also took more than 16# (including bonus points) to stay out of last place! Those are pretty awesome stats for a mid-August tournament. Either Tonka is an incredible fishery (which it is) or MFL participants are incredibly talented (which they are).
