    Pelican?

was heading up to monticello tonight and decided to drive by pelican on the way. was amazed to see only two trailers at the landing. is this the norm now or just an off night. seemed like for a while there the lot was full everynight. now its been probably 2 or 3 years since i have been out there. has the lake fallen off or something?

I think that the quality of fish has dropped off. I was out there about two weeks ago and there were only 4-5 trailers there. I did get some nice bass, nothern and panfish but nothing like 3-4 years ago.

Also, I think its partially due to the thick green paint like oily layer of pesticides from the area farmers that turned the bite off also..

    John,
Right now, it'd be a waste of gas, especially coming from where you are

I was out there last night from 6pm to 8pm and had a good time. Water temp was 86.4° which is the highest I've ever seen in MN. Water clarity was about average for this time of year out there, maybe 8". The algae bloom is almost over and is just a result of all the dying pondweed and the high water temps. The fishing was ok again, I managed to get 7 with the biggest going about 3 pounds. As soon as we get some cool nights and the frogs start to migrate the bigger fish should start to get easier to target.

There was a small tournament out there last night but I didn't wait for them to come in.
