Bite picking up - Zippel Bay update
The folks up at Zippel said the bite has been pretty good since the storm passed. Live shinners have been very tough to come by but people seem to be doing just fine with fat heads or frozen shiners. Shallower water has been the key....18'-24'. Lots of the "poor bite" reports have been coming from folks fishing the deeper water. White and orange glow was the top producer before the storm. Post storm it's been Green.
Hopefully heading up this weekend!

We were going to do a last minute trip up there today, but as luck has it we ran into a snag. Dang it!
My buddy will be at Zippel this weekend. If you see a balding guy with a tumbler of Crown, kick him for me.

Say, "Hey, Jako! Mark says hi!"
Then kick. LOL
Mike Martinjako. About 48-50, balding, glasses, about 5-7 and pretty "thick" in the mid section. HAAAAAAAA
Loves his Crown.
Super great guy.

Whats included with the sleepers? Do the come with bedding on them already or do we need to bring our own, sheets included? I will be sure to post how it went, Ive been busy making venison jerky to bring with, not sure its going to last around here until then though haha. Are the roads on the ice suitable to drive a buick century onto? Im not sure where we are going out from but thats our only vehicle ATM

Are you staying in one of the Zippel sleepers? If so give them a call with your questions 800-222-2537. You should be fine with your car on the ice roads but my concern would be the bridges over any cracks or a heavy snow fall over night. There can be some big bumps/dips going over pine island also....if your going that way. Good luck!

Thank you I will give them a call today
we're going out somewhere on Zipple and staying in a sleeper. We are going with two other guys but driving seperate so if they dont think the ice road will be nice to our new car we'll just park it and hitch a ride with the other guys

Fishing continues to be excellent! All parts of the lake ice free as of earlier this week. Trophy walleyes still being produced from both the Rainy River and the lake. 5-12 feet over sand and rubble...
Fishing on Lake of the Woods- LOW...
