NE part 2
Went back to NE this weekend.I have never hunted in this much wind.Morning started off real slow did not hear anything on roost.I'm sure they gobbled but with all the wind I could not hear them.Tried out a few different spots with no luck.Headed a couple miles down the road we had permisson on.I just took it slow get into a low spot and call sit for a bit.I worked one side of the land all the way back to the fence line and was just going to head to check out a spot we saw birds in during the archery season.I took a minute to glass the hill side before I left the cedar tress and I saw a bird in strut. This was perfect I could use the cedars to get close to him.I started to make my move up the hill.I did get to watch him try and strut it was funny. The wind was almost taking him off his feet.He would fight the wind to try and stay in strut.
I was in range now and he was just going behind a bid cedar tree.I moved to make sure I could shoot once he came out the other side.Next thing I hear is putting.I had a couple hens by me that I did not know where there. They take off I look up at the gobbler and he is on a run behind the cedar and comes out flying. All he had to do was go straight away and he was safe.He comes out flying to the side of me.I lead him a little and shoot dropped him right there. Most the shot was in the head and chest but one caught his foot I still do not know how that happen. You can see in the photo

This bird for the area we hunt was big we do not get too many with hooks like this or weight of 23lbs.Spurs both are 1 1/4.

Sorry for the bad pictures was just me so I did what I could.

That's the end for 2010 for me ,was a great spring.
Well, I generally come in at least fifteen minutes late, ah, I use the side door - that way Lumbergh can't see me, heh heh - and, uh, after that I just sorta space out for about an hour.
Da-uh? Space out?
Yeah, I just stare at my desk; but it looks like I'm working. I do that for probably another hour after lunch, too. I'd say in a given week I probably only do about fifteen minutes of real, actual, work
Nice work Brett, I love that area!
