Anyone fish Normandale Lake in Bloomington?

I work in the 8400 tower in the Normandale Lake office park overlooking Normandale Lake. Every morning I look out the window, and when the water is calm, I see a lot of hawgs swimming around. I'm guessing they are probably carp, but I can't be sure from 17 floors up. Since I moved here in April, I haven't seen a soul fishing the lake and wondered if anyone on this site has. I've searched the web and have found sites saying it has carp, crappie, blue gill and even one site saying that it has 40" Northern. I'm really curious what's out there. Anyone know?

I have an office in the 8300 building. There's a 12-14 foot hole near the falls. I do know people try for pannies there with some success. I've also been told there are bass in there as well. Used to be big so the word is.
All normal people love meat. If I went to a barbeque and there was no meat, I would say 'Yo Goober! Where's the meat!?'. I'm trying to impress people here Lisa. You don't win friends with salad.

I've caught crappie in the spring there. If I were you I would dive south a mile to Bush lake. Lots of great shoreline you can access and there are bass and some muskie in there... a fun little metro lake

I've been keeping an eye on Normandale and I have seen quite a few boats out on the lake in the past month. I'm guessing now that the water is clear, it's a lot easier to fish. If anyone decides to give it a try, please let me know how it goes. I'm dying to know how the fishing is in there. That lake just sits there and taunts me everyday through the office window.

Hmmmmmm.....What should I tell you. I have liked in Bloomington all my life. Lots of pike, Bass can be stubborn but can turn on fast. If your a pretty good fisherman and they are biting you could catch 25 easily in a full day. This lake is shallow and has lots of grass. Flipping and frogs are the best. If you see a white and red Skeeter out there that might be me. Not many know of this lake I never see people on it. Shhhhh....Let's keep it our little secret.

I have caught more bass over 5 lbs on Normandale than any other lake, including a 22" 7 lber that I caught years ago. This year I caught a 42" 21 lb Northern, which topped my 40" 17 lber from 13 years ago. I also caught a 38" 14 lber the same day. There's no doubt that it can be difficult to fish with all the weeds, but if you figure it out it's definitley worth it.

I also work right in that area but haven't fished it. I can attest to bush being a good big bass lake.

There are big bluegills in there too. I have even had them hit my extra large Spinners. Got a 10 incher years ago. There are just so many that it's hard to weed out the small ones. There used to be big crappies in there too but they aren't doing so well in recent years.

using a larger bait can help weed out the smaller gills.
