You know Mike Rowe ?
the guy on" Discovery" channel doing dirty jobs.... He's selling" Ford" cars ! now that is DIRTY !!!;) |
As opposed to GM government bailout motors or Toyota's 2.3 million vehicle recall and cease of sales I'd say he's got a pretty good manufacturer to work for. They've been doing something right.

Re: mike rowe
Mike Rowe seems like one of the coolest guys on TV. He's the kind of guy you could run into at the bar sip a beer and just talk about normal **** like one of the guys.

He does seem like a cool guy, I would love to have his job, would be a blast and I am sure he makes some serious $.
|
Funny! But at least Ford is working with out Bail out and looking like there going to show a profit:clap:.You won't see a Chevy sitting in my driveway for a long time.

Great show, no way would I want that job, while some of it is pretty interesting, much of it I could pass on doing..:D
Ya, pretty nice guy it seems, I belive he used to be a opera or some such singer, doesn't have a bad voice at all. Only job I ever heard he wouldn't do was helping me clean my garage, something about nobody should have to do something that dirty..:D fwiw been pretty happy with my Ford trucks, can't see no reason to change. In the past I have actually preferred the 'ride' of a Chevy truck better than a Ford, but I have owned a Ford now for the last 5 years. Truthfully, as long as it gets me from A to B, I don't really care too much. In he back of my mind though, Ford didn't take the money, and that gives them a beneficial lean when it comes to my next vehicle.
I think this thread about Rowe and Ford, but seems to be sliding a little towards the bailout.... |
Re: mike rowe
Have been very happy w/ my 99 Ford for the 7 years I've owned it. I do agree that Chevys seem to ride a little better/smoother, but I don't feel that you get as much "feedback" from them. Especially on rougher terrain, I like to feel what my tires are up against. As said before, the non-bailout part gives me even more reason to stick with the blue oval. I only wish they would back their vehicles like Chrysler is doing- unlimited power train warranty. I bought a Jeep 2 years ago and a good portion of our decision to buy a Chrysler product was the unlimited warranty. Covers all power train parts, including 4 wheel drive components. If I buy another half ton and they are still offering the warranty, I'd seriously consider the Hemi Ram. More likely, though, is that I'll end up with a diesel Ford. Check out the completely new power train (desiged solely in house by Ford) for the 2011+ Super Duty... If it lives up to the hype, there'll be a line a block long to get one.
As for Rowe, he was actually voted one of the top 10 "most trustworthy celebrities" recently, based solely on viewer opinion. From all I can tell, a pretty stand up guy. |
Hard to believe a guy like that lives in San Francisco......seems like he should be from Butte, Montana or something.
As for Ford/Chevy debate - I have owned 8 trucks since graduating college - 7 Chevy's and 1 Ford - gave Ford a chance and hated it - traded it in after 2 years. It was the third truck I bought. |

Guys like Ole, would be lighting Ford up if it would of been the other way around with the bailout!keep driving your Chevy Ole since the president you hate bailed out the company you love to support! :)
|
I'll compare my repair receipts anytime you want Lance!!!!
I just had the rear brakes for the 1st time....Still have original front brakes and my GMC Yukon has 168,700 miles on it. Just for the record......I would have let the auto-makers and the banks that took the money go into bankrupcy.....I was totally against the bailouts!! Quote:

Re: mike rowe
anytime. mine are usually covered under warranty! Well i do have to pay for oil changes. I suppose if u never tow with a gmc u wouldn't need brakes til the 200k mark
|
Ole,
To go that long I'm curious if you ever go over 25 mph!!I thought on my F150 when i went 80,000 miles i was doing good. |
That is what I thought, the reason I brought it in for brakes was because when I was pulling my boat, the stopping distance was getting longer. Since I know front brakes usually go first, I brought it in and asked them to check out the brakes but I was sure I needed new fronts. When they took it apart and he called me, he said the front pads had about 60-70% left but the rears were down to 10-15%. I have no idea why but that is what it is. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with having disc brakes on front and rear.

Oh yeah, however, I don't race up to a stoplight and then dynamite the brakes to stop, I also leave plenty of room in traffic so I'm not constantly riding the brake.

I know....I know....You always trade them in every couple years!!!
How about that engine that let lose on you??? Was that under warranty??? How many miles on that truck when she took a chit?? Quote:
|
I would have them look at the master cylinder to have that many miles on them and still have 60% left is crazy. The fronts take a lot more abuse in most cases. My Ford had disc all the way around to.
|
I think theres good ones and bad no matter which brand you go with.I've always been Ford guy and now with the bail outs I'm sticking with Ford even if i get a bad one.
