  1. The ice is out and the dock is in!

The ice went is out now on most or all of the metro area lakes. With a little help from my friends we got the dock put in this weekend and I'm ready for opener next weekend. Fishing could be a little slow with the cold water temps, but I'm sure we can find something willing to bite.

  2. Wow....

I thought the paint for my Ranger was dead and no point of cleaning it so last year, I went the whole year without washing it or doing anything with it after fishing trips. This year, I spent some money upgrading the boat. Put on two talons, rewired trailer, new tires, redid the hubs. Last thing on...

  6. Leech fall bite is on

Walleye's were active tonight instead of tilling the garden I hooked up the boat and was rewarded with a nice limit of eyes. Bite was good first drop with a jig and minnow fish on had a limit in 30 minutes and released a bunch. Fall bite is on and this spot should produce when we have good Ice....

  7. Lake of the Woods Fishing/Ice Report

The weather was beautiful this week (if you prefer open water fishing)! We hit the fifties Sunday, and this brought out a few more anglers. There were a number of trucks and trailers at the landings getting in some late Fall fishing. The bite wasn't on fire, but those that stuck to it, came...

  8. Lake of the Woods Fishing Report 10/22

“Great Fall fishing”. Even with the recent rainy weather, the fish are still biting and there are limits coming in. Rainy River fishing continues to pick up as the shiners are on the run. From Four Mile Bay to the airport, to Baudette, all the way to Vidas has been great fishing. Fishing near...

We had our family vacation on Whitefish again this year and although this isn't really a fishing trip we get the kids out fishing quite a bit.. :D The walleyes were actually biting well for a change which is not usual for this time of year for us out there. We have been going there for 8?...

  12. I think the dang river makes people crazy!

I start thinking about all of the crazy things I have seen, fishing the river and if there weren't so many witnesses, I would actually think I was crazy. One year there was a man eating tree out there, we saw it flip 7 out of 11 kayakers, several canoes, a few small boat and even I fell victim...

  13. Towing A Boat Question..

Does the height of the trailer tongue off the ground matter as to how easy it is to tow a heavy boat? One reason why I ask is because when I first bought my boat, I had a chevy S10. It towed the boat/trailer relatively easy and didn't seem to struggle as much as I thought it would. The boat/trailer...

  14. What's Next?

Reading the Star Trib and this article caught my attention. First remove drain plugs, then a sticker, then two metro lakes have inspectors, now this. Too bad wake board boats can't empty ALL of the water out of their ballasts. http://www.startribune.com/local/west/159885555.html

Other then opening day where will your first fishing trip take you? Mine will be the Ash River Trail. Looks like the ice hopefully will go out early this year. Still trying to justify the cost for structure scan units. Sure would like one but, I don't know that I want to spend that kind of...

  22. Question Rainy Lake......who are you??

During one of my trips I saw a "AnglerInsider" decal on a truck at Rainy One Stop. Just wondering how many of the members here fish Rainy? Do you motel it or resorts when you go? How often do you get up there? Anybody here regulars to the Namakin, Kabatogama, Ash River area?

  26. Rum River 9/22

After a summer of insanely high and fast waters, things finally calmed down enough to where we decided it was safe to hit the river, so once Trav was off to school, we packed up the fishing gear, tossed Ling in a sleeping bag and headed out. This was the first time I ever put a kid in a sleeping...

  29. Fish chaser TV: chasing big bluegills 9-17-2011

I got invited to fish up north by Patrick, we went after huge bluegills and found lots of bass ready to intercept whatever we cast into the lake. If you downsized to a tiny jig, tiny bluegills would be non stop, so I stuck with my favorite big bluegill bait, a leech and caught many bass and pike,...
