OK folks, We are currently doing a postcard survey within our management area and have received quite a few responses, however, we know there is a fairly strong online constituency as well. Please see below if interested. Thanks. Dear Interested Angler: Over the past few decades many...

  2. Float & Fly, Slip-Rig, Depth Finder

I found this website page that explains "in depth" how to use bobber stops to determine water depth and then control lure depth range. http://www.bulletbobber.com/sliprig.html The bobber and bead designs are genius! IMO

  4. Leech Crappies

Went up to Leech to get the pontoon ready and in the water. My seven year old son wanted to fish but the water temps were in the mid forties. I got some minnows and he fished off the docks while I worked. He was nailing the Crappies! All in the 12 - 14" range. The kid had a blast. Kept enough for a...

  5. Wright County Crappies

With only a limited time this week, I'm not sure which would be the best crappie lake this season. Lake Sylvia or Cedar Lake? I like them both. Any ideas?

  6. Sugar Lake, Wright County

I wanted to see if I could find some of those nice crappies, I've heard about from Sugar, but all I could catch was two small pike and a bass. The surface temp averaged 48 degrees, so I think waiting for the water to warm a bit might bring better luck.

  8. B-Town Slabs

Was able to get out for a bit today with Matty Breuer and Spense to chase down some slabs a little ways north of Bemidji. Wow, did I pick a cold day to run up there! Even the slightest breeze chilled you to the bone. Luckily we spent a lot of the morning drilling holes and chasing fish. Found some...

  9. Panfish bite has been strong around Grand Rapids

Been fishing quite a few lakes around the Grand Rapids area. Generally the gills have been shallower than the crappies. Gills in 15-22 fow or less and crappies and small gills in 30-32 fow. My brother was up last wed and thursday and we ended up fishing crappies for the most part. One...

  10. Good Gill Bite 12-16

Finally left the walleyes alone for awhile and got after some bluegills. Got to the lake around 930 and drilled a series of holes and never left the 1st hole and I fished until 530. Had action the entire time it only slowed down when pike came through. 24 fow just off some shoreline structure. ...

  15. Puddle Jumping for Gills

Jason and I spent a few days last week working some small lakes off some old logging roads. Found lots of blue gills and bass. 16. Snorkel Scouting for Gills

Was up at the cabin again this weekend and decided to target large sunfish the entire weekend. Tried slip bobbering in deeper water with mixed results, we found plenty of fish in the 18-22 foot range but it was slow going with a lot of sorting involved. So we went in to eat lunch and i threw on the...

I took a good friend of mine, his 3 yr old son and my daughter Sydney out for some panfish action on a Chisago area lake today. I found a nice reed point that dropped off to 13 fow. 20. No wakes? How high is Pelican?

I read there are no wake restrictions on some wright county lakes like Clearwater and Sugar. That will make some of the bass fishing tourneys interesting. Anybody been on Pelican lately? Is the water a few feet higher than normal there too?

Took the family up to Chisago City for a little fishing and swimming. We started looking for some fish in 4-8 feet of water which produced 6-7 inch sunfish and couple small bass. The crappies were absent for some reason. We kept moving hitting some other weed lines/flats with the same...

I met Jack up in Pelican Rapids, and we hit an area lake that was really going for Slabs and big sunfish. Some of the crappies were close to a pound and a half. 25. Lake Waverly

I thought I would spend some time this morning to see if I could find some Waverly walleyes, no luck, but the bass were cooperating as usual. I also located some nice panfish to pursue this winter. For me, this is a nice lake to fish when time is short and have to stay close to home.

  27. 3rd Shift Slabs

The large majority of anglers who target crappies tend to do so during the first or last couple of hours of daylight. While this is a very productive way to target numbers of fish, many anglers don’t often fish much later than dark and are missing out on some great fishing opportunities. This...
