  1. Carp Tournament June 2nd in Prior Lake

Bowfishermen, check out this link about a carp tournament on Prior, Spring, and Fish Lakes in Scott County on Sunday June 2nd. I like the part about them disposing of the fish for us. That's the downside of this sport in my opinion. Nice payouts also. http://www.plslwd.org/carp_tournament.php

  2. My son is at it again!

My six year old son has surprised us in the past by catching some large fish all by himself. This year will be no exception! On Sunday we were crappie fishing on Lake Waverly and he hooked a huge 33" carp. My wife had to tighten the drag while he was reeling as the fish made several strong runs....

  5. Sturgeon fishing

Anyone planning on heading up to Rainey River this April? I thought it only appropriate, since we spent our honeymoon fly fishing trout and our 5 year fishing in the Golf of Mexico, that spend the 10 year sturgeon fishing. Hoping the 15 involves fishing in Alaska.

  7. St Croix report

I hit the St Croix bright an early saturday morning looking for some walleyes. The first spot held a bunch of fish, but the eyes were hard to come by. The sunfish were more than willing to bite though. I worked crawlers and leeches in 15-30 feet of water catching bass, sheepsters, sunfish...

  8. Shorefishing in IGH

Me and a buddy fished the river this morning for a couple of hours. The action was fairly constant, no more than five minutes between bites. We caught mostly sheep with a few redhorse mixed in and I caught one little walleye that was about 13", my friend caught the smallest rock bass I've ever...

  10. Carp on the Fly!

I finally did it! Catching a carp on the fly rod has been on my bucket list for about 4 years now. Saturday presented itself with a few hours, some great weather, and a great tip from a passerbyer while fishing lake Hiawatha. He tipped me off on a foot accessible backwater on the mississippi. I...

  16. Anyone fish Normandale Lake in Bloomington?

I work in the 8400 tower in the Normandale Lake office park overlooking Normandale Lake. Every morning I look out the window, and when the water is calm, I see a lot of hawgs swimming around.
