This event will be held at McBrides on the Bay. Clearwater is a really fun lake to fish with a lot structure. It is a great way to meet some fellow fishermen and pick up some new techniques or learn what the fish are hitting on. These events are mostly for fun but yet still competitive with the entry fee that is affordable to the average angler. Clearwater always produces some big bass and pike. After the event we invite everyone to stop at McBrides for a bite to eat and beverage.

It could be a possibility. I think there is one team staying there. Were you thinking hotel or tent?

Where are you thinking about staying at?

I don't know, I was planning to check out what is available in the area - probably a motel in Annandale or Clearwater... camping is a possibility though..

I think we are going to camp out that night - anyone know what is available on Clearwater or near for camping? I thought there was a campground in Augusta and another on the West end somewhere, but I haven't really paid attention...

How many people are interested in camping? I might have an option on the lake where we could camp and have some beers by the bon fire the night before.
I have talked to a friend and he lives on Augusta. He said that it would be fine for people to camp in his backyard. He has a nice bonfire pit and everyone would have access to indoor plumbing. I need to know if people are going so we can plan accordingly.

sounds great, count us in... a couple extra hours of sleep sound good... or a couple less, depending on the beer :) Let me know what time you think you guys will be down, maybe we can meet up at McBrides for a couple...

Lance, not meaning to edit your posts but I want to keep the information on the top of this thread. I've added meeting time and place to the top of the thread.

You can count us in also.Meeting at Mcbrides Fri. for a beer sounds good.We have to get our rest for the big day.

Was out on Clearwater today. It was gorgeous out. Sunshine and a little breeze. All culverts are accessible to bays or other lakes. The water is really moving through these spots so watch your boat sides when going through.

Brain and I will be going up early on Friday for a day on the lake and plan on staying up there, just not sure where yet.

Ted and I fished Saturday morning with pretty poor success. That lake can make me nuts sometimes. There was a big tournament out there with 50+ boats racing around. We found a few small bass but nothing to get excited about. Please let me know if you want to stay at Lance Hartmans place on Friday night.
Meeting at McBrides for some beers and dinner might be a plan too. Otherwise I am sure that people will be out looking at some fishing spots. I plan to get up there around 6:00-7:00 and get the tent setup.

I finally got around to signing up Mike. Glad to hear we weren't the only one's having trouble on Saturday. After the luck we had with eyes last week I can't believe how they just shut off.

The fishing slump gave me an excuse to clean out the fire pit and cut up enough wood to keep the fellas out of trouble for a few hours. I gotta say, not much beats a clean ash-hole.

Let me know who's showing and when and I'll try to be home by say 4:30 on Friday.

Welcome to AI Lance and thanks for the camping offer! Just curious what your using for the trail cam? I started using those quite a bit last year and it is a blast...

For anyone that is planning to camp, please let Mike and Lance know. I think they said there was room for maybe 6 or 7 boats. Confirmed for camping:

That's just a camara I mounted to my bow with a spotlight. Kidding, it's actually just the cheap 35mm Stealth Cam. Just picked it up last year.

Had that buck 7 yards in front of me standing broadside in the dark last October. I was in the stand early and it was about 30 minutes before legal shooting time...I could tell it was a huge siloutte in front of me but couldn't make out the rack. About 15 minutes later he had wandered down by a swamp...it was 15 minutes lighter and the swamp opening let in enough light for me to see the rack...DANG!!

I caught a glimpse of him again during muzzleloader season but that's all I got. Nice part is he's on private land and there's plenty of forage for him during the winter...so I'm hoping to take him this year with the bow...maybe he'll be a 10 this year!

Lance,
Good to see you made it on AI. I will let you know how many people are coming. It looks to be 3-4 boats right now.

We'll if he made it through the season, maybe this year you'll get a crack at him...

The cheap 35 mm stealth is a great camera for the money. That is the first camera I started with, it actually has less false photos than most I've used. I now have a leaf river digital that is pretty good - more false failures but with digital you can just delete the bad ones...

Thanks all for the welcome...seems like you have a great site going here.

As for accomodations...we can pull up several boats. In fact, I told Mike that the cats really work well to cushion the boats along the shore...don't have to worry about dock rash. Trucks and trailers are the issue. We'll pull in as many as we can and figure out what to do if we run out of space.

Pray for sunshine fellas...my firepit is being threatened by high water!!!

I got lucky with that photo Dan. I set up the camara next to a swamp a good 15 yards from any deer trail...figured I'd get less false shots without a bunch of trees the squirrels could climb in front of the camara.

I aimed it up at an angle to prevent ground shots of mammals and rodents and hung a scent bomb in the tree. It's tough to see on the avatar but remind me to show you the real pic on Friday...the scent bomb has reflective tape on it. Did it to prove a point to my buddies about how well scent works during the right time of year.

Best part was, I didn't retrieve the film until after that morning hunt. That buck walked into a circle of 10 scent bombs I had hung around my stand when I got in that morning and just stood there. I developed the film and found out then that he had been in front of the camara (40 yards away) 2 days prior.

Hey guys, we're having a gathering on the river that day too. We're weighing in at 3pm at Ellison Park in Monticello, not far from Clearwater. We're going to have a few beers and brats at the park afterwards if any of you want to stop by after your tourney. You guys can see where real men fish! J/K :p

HawgTide,
How many guys are getting together? I would love to come meet some of you guys but it is Good Neighbor Days in Howard Lake and the beer garden will be open as soon as I get home at around 2:00. The beer is cheap and the burgers(with or without) are very tasty. Plus I should have plenty of money to spend after the Clearwater event. :D
Clearwater is is going to be a blast. I think that we are going to see some big weights come in if someone finds a honeyhole and there are plenty out there.

Where is this Clearwater you guys are talking about....if it's not all that far from me in Milaca, maybe I could get away to meet and bs with some of you guys. I'm sure the wife has something planned for me since I told her I'd take this weekend off from fishing, but you never know
