Took my 2 boys out yesterday afternoon to a stretch of the Crow out by Hassan. In 2 hrs we landed 7 Redhorse (avg about 2 lbs), 2 Carp, 1 small Bullhead, and 1 nice Channel Cat. All came off crawlers although we did try some dough baits as well. Water was moving pretty good but we found some nice current breaks and the boys had fun! Might have to head down there again next week with some frozen smelt for more cats.

Went back out again yesterday evening and tried for Cats with cut up suckers. Had 3 nice fish on but all 3 got caught up in some flooded roots and broke off. Water level was up roughly a foot since Thursday.

Parker is much lower maint than Haywood!!!!:D :D I took my oldest son back out there this evening because he felt cheated that he missed out while he was at school. We landed 2 more Redhorse, a small Channel Cat, an Iowa Walleye (Bullhead) and C&R'd a smallie that was in the 17" range. Everything but the Cat came on crawlers and the Cat came on a dead sucker minnow.

One thing I forgot to bring up is THANK GOD FOR THERMACELL!!!!! If I hadn't had that baby along last night we wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes down there! I was cussing like Haywood when it's time to pay the check until the unit got warmed up, after that I never even noticed the bugs!!!

We hit the Crow again for a short trip this afternoon. Managed 2 nice Carp, one Yellow Bullhead, 2 12" Smallies, and a small Redhorse. Had one break the line (17# Trilene) after about a 5 minute fight. All came on crawlers. It was a fun little outing but after pulling the wagon loaded with my youngest son, my tackle box, and two folding chairs the 1/2 mile from the river to the car I think I just lost 15 lbs!!

After 5 softball games in 24 hours Friday & Saturday I needed some fishing time on Sunday... I headed off to where the Crow dumps...ah...more like trickles into the Missisippi in Dayton. The water is really low with sand islands everywhere. I walked down the 'ssippi a few hundred yards wading in and out of the rapids. Enough time to get the feet wet, test out a few new Senko imitation plastics and work up another sweat and I was back in the AC. I had a couple bites on a creyfish colored Senko, but they would not bite the top half where the hook was. I could see the fish in the slack water, but they did not want anything to do with anything I tossed.
Talked to a few guys that were taking out a canoe and they said they had been having much better luck downriver. Just park the canoe and get off on the bolder fields. 20 - 40 fish outings. 14" - 19" smallies were common.
Someone meet me at my house with a canoe!!!!
